Academics

Our Curriculum

At the Cathedral School we consistently strive to provide a rigorous, grade level appropriate, and dynamic data-driven curriculum for our students. With our mission to “strengthen spirits, minds and bodies through the teachings of Jesus Christ” always in mind, our masterful teachers seek to challenge students and advance their learning through various best practices employed in their craft.

The focus from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade is in developing the whole child through developmentally appropriate learning activities, exploration and challenges. Our teachers have the privilege of growing God’s greatest gifts, our students, through academics, spirituality, the arts, physical education, and service.

Pre-Kindergarten — Kindergarten — 1st Grade
Lower Elementary School teachers focus on a unique balance of social, emotional, physical, moral, and academic development that target specific learning milestones. Our research driven teaching methods and best classroom practices encourage collaboration, cooperation, and the development of independent thinking. Social, collaborative activities are specifically utilized to foster cognitive growth. Respectful play-based and friendship oriented experiences help develop successful well-rounded students who are best prepared for the Upper Elementary Program.

2nd Grade — 3rd Grade — 4th Grade — 5th Grade
Educators in the Upper Elementary Program focus on a unique balance of academic, moral, and social development that target specific learning milestones. Collaborative and differentiated activities are specifically utilized to foster cognitive growth. Through a strong exploratory based curriculum and cooperative learning experiences, our students are provided with content focused enriched studies that put them on the path to success in our Middle School Program and in their over arching academic careers.

6th Grade — 7th Grade — 8th Grade
In the ICCS Middle School Program, our teachers focus on a unique balance of academic, moral, and social development that target specific learning milestones within core subject areas. Our research driven teaching methods and best classroom practices encourage collaboration, cooperation, and the development of independent thinking. Within the framework of a challenging and engaging curriculum is a highly structured employment of teaching methods and expectations. The middle school program centers around developing personal responsibility and skills to benefit executive functioning.
